Please join us for the annual Autumn Reception.
Always one of our most popular social events, the Autumn Reception is a wonderful opportunity to meet or get reacquainted with other alums and friends of Hunter College High School. And, this year’s Reception is particularly special for two reasons.
First, our special guest will be Dr. Tony Fisher, Hunter’s new Acting Principal, who will share news from the High School. Attendees will not only have the chance to mingle with each other, but with Dr. Fisher, as well as other faculty members and school administrators.
Second, while the Autumn Reception has traditionally been held in the HCHS library, this year we will have the privilege of using the recently renovated Roosevelt House for our venue. Designed by architect Charles A. Platt, the elegant Neo-Georgian building was a wedding gift to Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt from the groom’s mother Sara. The Roosevelt family moved into the house in 1908 and remained there for decades; raising their children and beginning their epic careers while living within its walls. A city landmark since 1973, the house was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980. Tours of Roosevelt House will be offered throughout the evening by HCHS alumna Dr. Deborah Gardner '66, director of Roosevelt House Exhibitions and Programs.
Please RSVP for this FREE event only if you plan to attend - via email to hchsaa_events@yahoo.com or by telephone to 212-772-4079.
