Volunteer Opportunity: ChildCare Vietnam

Former HCHS physics teacher Larry Borten founded ChildCare Vietnam (CCV) in 2013. CCV is in need of a volunteer to join its Board of Directors as Treasurer.

The Treasurer advises CCV on bookkeeping and accounting issues, reviews its financial reports at least quarterly, assists with government financial filings, participates in two Board meetings per year by video conference, and reports annually to the Board on CCV’s financial position. The estimated time commitment is two to four hours per month.

CCV provides special education, physical and occupational therapy, and other services to over 40 needy or abandoned children in rural Vietnam. Many of the children we serve spent their days confined to cribs before CCV came along. None were receiving any schooling.

The Treasurer should have some accounting experience and a passion for helping needy children. There is no language requirement and the Treasurer’s duties can be performed from any location worldwide. Travel to Vietnam is not required.

If you are interested, please email Larry at Lborten@childcarevietnam.org with a CV and statement of interest.

As always, Mr. Borten would welcome questions.
