Rudean JOHNSON Leinaeng ’55 has written a novel set at the dawn of the twentieth century. Coal, War and Love (BookBaby 2019) is based on a true story about the lives and loves of America’s “colored” citizens. The book also details the impact that global events have on the young couple, such as World War I, and the health crisis posed by the Spanish Flu.
