Technology Items
✅ Student Chromebook Class Sets: A class set (30) of Chromebooks can be used for in-class writing and basic online search use. They are also used for AP Exam and other standardized online testing needs.
✅ Student Laptops Carts: A cart has 30 laptops and serves as a charging station and can be moved to each room needed, as needed; some depts (esp Science) require full laptops capacity.
Program Support
✅ Continuation of last year’s curriculum pilot program—Strother Fellows. Last spring 5 HS teachers applied for, and received fellowship funding, to co-partner with the Strother School of Radical Attention to study how to create attention-centered practices in the classroom and to share these curricula with other HCHS and other interested teachers through the Strother School.
Stipend to fund expansion of the HCHS FIRST Robotics program which is done in partnership with its corporate sponsor, Alliance Bernstein. AB has built a new student robotics lab in its new corporate headquarters in Hudson Yards. If HCHS can provide an additional mentor, we will be able to expand the number of students using the lab during the season and to provide middle school student access and activities in the fall.
Diversity Initiatives
✅ Payment of Marketing Outreach for HCHS entrance exam (direct marketing thru Daily
News to targeted geographic communities, parents of school age children)
✅ Funding for DEI consultants to support work of CS Admissions diversity work
✅ Funding support for struggling students (tutoring, additional counseling programs for 1 stgeneration students)
✅ College Trip for Fee waiver students (HCHSAA has funded this for several years). Costs have increased for this 3-day trip, with 3-4 College visits (hotels, bus, meals,chaperones).
