Sherman Chan ’97

Sherman Chan, MD is a graduate of HCHS Class of 1997. He then continued his studies at New York University with B.A.s in Biochemistry and Economics and State University of New York Downstate Medical Center for his MD degree. In both undergraduate and graduate schools, he served on various student led governing boards overseeing extracurricular programs and clubs. At Downstate he served as University Council President for two years, overseeing the procurement and distribution of private and government funds for all extracurricular student activities and programs for 17 distinct academic tracts. After completing his surgical and urology training, he has been in private practice for the last 10 years and currently serves as the Director of Urology at Vantage Medical Group and Gramercy Surgery Center in New York City. Combining his medical expertise with his financial knowledge, he has been tasked with building and growing the Urology Programs at both institutions with capital, talent, and technology acquisitions while maintaining fiscal solvency for these small businesses. He is active in the community, participating in Prostate Cancer Screenings and Men’s Health Programs and fundraising in conjunction with The American Cancer Society and various pharmaceutical and academic programs. Dr. Chan is an accomplished clinician who also serves as an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Urology at New York University Long Island School of Medicine where he trains resident physicians and medical students. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Urology.

Dr. Chan currently resides in New York City with his wife and two children. He is excited for the opportunity to provide his expertise and experiences in support of the present and future members of HCHSAA.

Dr. Chan serves on the board’s Finance, Grants, and Ad Hoc 3-Year Planning committees.
